Campbell didn’t exactly know what to expect when he agreed to see Maya at the hospital. He didn’t even know why she was in the hospital until today. He was also a little put off when she said she missed him, but perhaps it was because they did have a nice time star gazing? Either way, Campbell was…
Maya smiled softly when he said her name and walked in the door, she was nervous about how this would go since she told him she missed him. She really did though because he was really sweet to her and they liked the same things. She really was having a hard time coping lately and was hoping things would get better for her, she saw the pictures of stars and the flowers in his hands and couldn’t help but smile. “Awh Cam you didn’t have to.”
Mike looked at her and smiled, he couldn’t believe that she liked him. “Want me to help you get to the couch?” Mike asked as he eyed her. He kept thinking about the kiss, “So, where’s everyone?”, he asked as he looked around the seemingly empty apartment. Mike grabbed her hand gently as he waited for her reply, this felt like a dream. However, he felt as if his reputation would get in the way of a lot of things. “Can I ask you a question?”, he whispered, giving her a light smile.
Maya shook her head no, she could make it by herself. “I can make it but thanks.” She headed over to the couch holding his hand and shrugged, everyone seemed to do their own thing lately and Maya was okay with being alone. “Yeah go ahead ask me.” She was always worried when someone said they had something to ask, but she hoped for the best.
Mike gently took the note back and smiled when he realized Maya said yes. He had to hold back, because he wanted to pick her, but he couldn’t. Mike eased closer to her face and cupped it with his hands, “Pretty girl.”, he whispered as he gently kissed her lips, he hoped it was okay, he didn’t to make her feel uncomfortable. So he quickly pulled back, “Sorry,” Mike whispered as he mentally slapped himself. He liked her and now he could be there for her as long as she needed him.
Maya nodded and blushed when his hands touched her face, you would think they would be rough but they were gentle and soft. Her blush grew when he called her pretty because he actually made her feel pretty with all the bruises on her body. She returned the kiss and didn’t mind sweet little kisses now and then. “No sweet little kisses are good.”
“Look,” Mike started as he looked at her, she was short, but not that short. “I know you’re a freshman and i’m a senior, but, I don’t think that should matter. Because, you’re always saying stuff that makes me wish I could be there for you, but not just as a friend.” He said as he took the rose and note and held them out in front of his crush, she’d never looked so beautiful, he thought. “So, I guess what i’m trying to say is, will you be my girlfriend, check yes or no.” Mike said, being able to breathe now that that was out of the way. He quickly flashed a smile.
Maya was surprised, she thought he had a thing for Faye and never suspected he would have feelings for her. Honestly he was the only guy she could see herself being with because they were both honest with each other and it seemed right. She struggled to make a check mark on the yes because her sprained wrist was her dominant hand but she tried and handed the note back to him.
“Thanks,” Mike began as he walked inside of the house, making sure to hide the items well. “I like your place.” he whispered as he studied her movements. He couldn’t wait to do this, “I got something for you,” he said easing closer to her. He couldn’t believe he was getting nervous, this had never happened to him before. Sure, he’d asked out girl’s before, but Maya was different, she seemed better, no she was better. “I know you don’t… this is hard.” Mike said as he started to look down at his feet.
Maya shut the door behind him and nodded softly. “Well yeah it is a decent place, so I guess I cannot complain eh?” She shrugged and walked into the kitchen. “Would you like something to drink?” She stood over the bar so she could watch him and something seemed off about him. Maya was confused about what he was getting at but she hoped she could calm him down. “Don’t what? What is hard? I am confused here.”
Mike smiled as he pulled up into Maya’s driveway. It was the first time he would be at her house, so he was excited. “It’s Mike.” He whispered as he continued to knock on Maya’s door. Mike couldn’t believe that he was getting ready to ask Maya to be his girlfriend, it felt weird, yet right. He had…
Maya slowly made her way to the door, she was still weak so it took her awhile to get around. She opened the door and smiled softly when she saw Mike on the other side of the door, she moved out of the way and let him come in. “Hey you, welcome to the other side of town.” She would of gave him a hug but her wrist was sprained and any movement made it hurt.
